Our History

Olive Tree Parish was established in September 1995. Olive Tree Mission, as it was known at that time, was set up as a community church with the vision of winning souls (to the Lord) from Ikoyi and its environs.
A group of 19 workers led by Pastor Alfred and Abby Olufemiyimi were given this mandate by Pastor Tony Rapu of the Apapa Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

The first service took place at “Stillwaters” (the home of the Olufeyimis) on Sunday 17th September 1995. In October, a place for Sunday worship was identified – Ciao restaurant on Awolowo Road in Ikoyi. A breakfast (outreach meeting was held there on Saturday 21st October and Sunday services commenced the day after. Midweek services continued at “Stillwaters”.

The administrative office was at “the vessel”. Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi. In April 1996, the church office moved to 30 Adetokunbo Ademola Street on Victoria Island (Holding Forth the Word Ministries). Subsequently, midweek services were also held there.

Pastor Alfred was given the vision of the Olive Tree in Zachariah 4:1-14. The Olive Tree would supply oil (anointing to the land. However, this work would not be accomplished by power or by might “but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts”. It would be a work of grace.Just prior to Pastor Alfred’s home call, he had appointed Kayode Pitan as the Parish Pastor. He (Pastor Alfred) had been made the Area pastor in August 1996.

God’s grace was available for Pastor Kayode who was saddled with the huge responsibility of leading the church to greater heights. As a church, we emerged from the fire – purified, strengthened and victorious in Christ. Under his leadership , Olive Tree experienced tremendous growth both Spiritually and physically. The House of Prayer For all Nations (HOPFAN)– a place of refuge, prayer miracles, honour, glory, power and holiness. It was formally dedicated by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye on 8th July 2007.

Pastor Yemi Osinbajo was transferred to Olive Tree in October 2009 from RCCG Jesus Center. Under his leadership, the church focused on building the lives of people within the society. Ten Kingdom ministries were established to cater for different areas of human lives. The church enjoyed unusual grace and favor. The height of God’s grace is typified by the election of Pastor Prof as the Vice President of Nigeria in 2015.

Pastor Okechukwu Enelamah is the current Pastor of the Olive Tree Parish. He was commissioned in May 2015 and has been of great blessing to the church. His ministry-focus is on Discipleship and Kingdom Building. We are called to model to our community a church that is characterized by a balanced ministry. We believe we are called to “build a people” for the Lord and “to touch” our community, our city, our nation and our world.
